Pharmacist
PHARMACIST
Our client, a well-established pharmacy chain is recruiting a pharmacist to support its growing branch network. The Pharmacist is a frontline healthcare professional responsible for the safe dispensing of medications, patient counselling, and delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care across the pharmacy chain’s outlets. The role also plays a key part in commercial operations, including customer service, insurance processing, collaboration with prescribers, and sales support.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Medication Dispensing
• Accurately dispense prescriptions in accordance with physician orders, PPB guidelines, and company policies
• Verify prescriptions for correctness, dosage, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions
- Patient Counselling & Care
• Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, storage, and adherence
• Provide professional advice on OTC medicines, supplements, and wellness products
- Clinical & Professional Services
• Conduct health screenings such as blood pressure and glucose testing (where applicable)
• Provide OTC consultation and management of minor illnesses
• Administer vaccinations in line with approved guidelines
- Inventory Management & Records
• Support stock management including receiving, shelving, and expiry monitoring
• Ensure no expired medicines are stocked or displayed
• Maintain accurate prescription records and controlled drug registers
- Customer Service & Sales Support
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries
• Deliver personalized, patient-centered service
• Promote pharmacy services, loyalty programs, and approved health products
- Compliance & Professional Standards
• Adhere to PPB regulations, national pharmacy laws, and internal SOPs
• Report medication errors or adverse drug reactions promptly
• Ensure timely renewal of annual practicing license
- Billing & Insurance Processing
• Bill and complete transactions for cash and insurance clients
• Process insurance claims accurately using approved platforms
• Verify and submit insurance invoices to the Branch Manager
Perform any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a PPB-recognized institution
• Completion of one-year internship as required by PPB
• 1–2 years’ experience in community or retail pharmacy preferred
• Registered with Pharmacy and Poisons Board
• Valid practicing license

Works closely with: Pharmacists, Pharmaceutical Technologists, and Support Staff
Salary KSh63,485 per month
