Pastry Chef
PASTRY CHEF
ROLE PURPOSE
To prepare, bake, and present high-quality pastries, breads, and desserts for the supermarket’s deli section, ensuring creativity, consistency, and adherence to food safety standards while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production & Preparation
- Prepare a variety of pastries, breads, desserts, and other baked goods according to recipes and specifications.
 - Innovate and develop new pastry items to expand the deli’s product range.
 - Ensure correct portion sizes and consistent presentation of all items.
 
 - Quality & Hygiene
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and preparation areas.
 - Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
 - Monitor freshness and quality of ingredients and finished products.
 
 - Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and request replenishment in a timely manner.
 - Assist in minimizing wastage through proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
 
 - Customer Service Support
- Coordinate with the deli counter team to ensure timely restocking of pastries.
 - Provide product knowledge to staff and occasionally to customers if needed.
 
 - Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other deli staff, chefs, and supervisors to meet production schedules.
 - Participate in team meetings to suggest menu updates and seasonal offerings.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Certificate in Pastry, Bakery, Culinary Arts, or related field.
 - Minimum 2 years’ experience in pastry preparation in a bakery, deli, or hotel environment.
 - Strong creativity and passion for baking and dessert presentation.
 - Knowledge of current pastry trends and techniques.
 - Understanding of food safety regulations and HACCP standards.
