About the Role
The Sales Accountant is a critical link between finance and commercial operations. This role
ensures that revenue streams are well-managed, customer accounts are accurately maintained,
and commercial decisions are informed by strong financial insights. The position supports
organisational growth by strengthening revenue operations, maintaining financial discipline, and
enabling the sales team to execute with precision.

Sales Accounting, Billing & Revenue Management
● Lead the full billing lifecycle, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant invoicing for all
products and services.
● Validate sales contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure proper revenue recognition.
● Maintain an efficient sales ledger and drive timely collections through proactive debtor
management.
● Strengthen revenue assurance by identifying inconsistencies, leakages, or gaps in sales
processes.
● Work closely with the commercial team to ensure alignment between sales activities and
financial controls.

Sales Performance Reporting & Commercial Insights
● Produce performance dashboards covering revenues, collections, product trends, and
customer behaviour.
● Develop strategic revenue forecasts and financial models to support planning and
pipeline management.
● Analyse sales patterns, churn signals, and customer profitability to inform pricing,
expansion, and retention strategies.
● Track and report on key sales KPIs to guide leadership decisions.

Customer Account Management
● Serve as the financial liaison for customer accounts, ensuring seamless communication
on invoices, statements, and balances.
● Manage customer onboarding from an accounting perspective, ensuring all
documentation and profiles are accurate and up to date.
● Strengthen customer experience by resolving account queries promptly and
professionally.

Financial Transactions & Reconciliations
● Oversee daily financial transactions with strict adherence to accounting standards and
internal controls.
● Conduct accurate reconciliations of customer payments, bank entries, and sales accounts.
● Ensure debtor, creditor, and stock reconciliations are completed monthly with zero
variances.
● Maintain a clean financial audit trail for all sales-related transactions.
Management Accounts, Budgeting & Forecasting
● Prepare monthly management reports with a strong focus on revenue performance and
commercial efficiency.
● Support budget execution for sales and operational activities, flagging variances and risks
early.
● Continuously improve financial reporting tools, templates, and processes.
● Work with departmental heads to monitor budget utilisation, sales targets, and operational
spending.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting
● Prepare statutory filings (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF/SHA, NITA, HELB, VAT) accurately and on
time.
● Ensure all tax treatments for sales transactions follow Kenyan tax laws.
● Maintain audit-ready documentation and provide accurate schedules during internal and
external audits.

Cash Flow & Liquidity Support
● Track daily inflows from customers and update cash flow positions accordingly.
● Prepare liquidity forecasts that incorporate expected sales and collection patterns.
● Support banking engagements on customer-related matters including deposits and
reconciliations.

Petty Cash, Stock & Administrative Support
● Manage petty cash usage and reconciliation with full accountability.
● Oversee stock movement records — particularly for sales-linked items — ensuring zero
discrepancies.
● Support office procurement, vendor coordination, and HR administrative functions.
● Maintain an efficient, organised office environment that supports business continuity.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related
field.
● CPA-K certification.
● Hands-on experience as a Sales Accountant, Revenue Accountant, or similar role.
● Strong analytical capability with proven Excel and financial modelling skills.
● Experience in inventory and stock management is highly desirable.
● Solid understanding of Kenyan tax laws, especially VAT and withholding tax.
● Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills.
● Experience managing budgets and financial controls for commercial operations.
